My Story

Hi, I’m Caroline, I'm a storytelling photographer based in Reigate, Surrey.

I believe there is a beautiful quality to images taken in natural light where life is captured as it happens, not posed. Some of the best photos I have of my family are the unplanned ones.

I want to tell people’s stories, I want to capture images that families can look back on and smile in years to come. The ordinary moments as our families are growing are so often the most precious and can so easily pass as time races by.

I grew up as a child surrounded by photographs, it was my Dad’s hobby and he passed his passion onto me. I have loved looking back through family albums, transporting me back in time and evoking happy memories. The photographs telling the stories which have taken place over the years. Being a Mum myself, I know how important it is to let family be family, I like everyone to feel relaxed on my shoots. I want them to be themselves, do what comes naturally and not feel like they have to pose.

If you are looking for a shoot where every photo is of you and your children looking at the camera smiling then I’m not the person for you. I capture life as it is, I capture connection, love and storytelling.

I can come to your home or tag along when you’re out and about, capturing moments as they happen. Get in touch and we can chat about what memories you'd most like documented.

3 THINGS ABOUT ME

I love spending time around our kitchen table together as a family, chatting about the day, the week & the things we have planned.

One of our happiest places as a family is at the beach, one day I'd really love to live by the sea.

Travel is one of my passions & there are many places on my personal bucket list but I'd absolutely love to take our kids to India one day. It has a special place in my heart, I love the colour, the buzz, the warmth & friendliness as well as the culture & history.

FAQ's

HOW MUCH IS A SHOOT?

It all depends on whether you are booking a Family, Newborn or Business Branding Session. You can read more by clicking on my prices and packages for family, newborn and business branding sessions.

Once you are happy and ready to book a date, a £50 deposit will be required and invoice will be sent to you.

The balance of your session fee will be due not later than 48 hours prior to your session. Cancellations need to be made as early as possible.

HOW LONG WILL THE SHOOT TAKE?

It depends on which session you have booked. Family sessions are up to 2 hours, Newborn session up to 3 hours and Business Branding Sessions vary. You can read more in my pricing and packages. Please do allow a little longer either side though as I don’t like to clock watch and it’s always good to have a bit of flexibility in case of any unforeseen delays.

WHERE SHOULD I DO MY FAMILY OR NEWBORN SHOOT?

My advice on choosing a location is choose somewhere which has a meaning to you and your family. In-home sessions are lovely for both family lifestyle and newborn as it allows me to capture your everyday life surrounded by the people and things that you love within your home and it’s often where everyone is most relaxed. Your home is packed full of memories especially for your children and is part of your families story, the things they used to play with, how their bedrooms once looked and the places you would hang out together as a family, around the table, snuggling on the sofa or playing in the garden, memories they can look back on in years to come

Alternatively if you are a family who enjoy being active and spending time outside in nature then a walk is a great option. I do however recommend it’s a location the whole family are familiar with, somewhere you’ll feel relaxed and a place you enjoy going, somewhere you have favourite spots such as a great climbing tree, a swing, water to paddle in or hill to roll down.

WHERE SHOULD I DO MY BUSINESS BRANDING SHOOT?

My advice on choosing a location is choose somewhere which has a meaning to you and your business. That might be in your home, an office, a local cafe or an outdoor location. I will capture a range of shots including long shots (from a distance) to help set the scene and give a real feel for your working space, medium distance shots and close ups to include more detailed images.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE SHOOT?

My biggest tip is wear what you feel most comfortable in, something which makes you feel like you.

In our pre-shoot chat we will chat what to wear, we'll discuss colours, what works well and what's best to avoid.

WHAT IF MY KIDS PLAY UP?

There is a chance they might but generally I’ve found that they find it exciting and want to show me things they can do. Also they will have your undivided attention which they will love.

I have three children myself so I’m quite used to ‘grumps’ and I have some tricks up my sleeve which often help but the shoot is about capturing family life and tears and grumpy faces are completely normal.

No one likes to be hungry so my advice especially for little children is to have them fed & watered before the shoot! Likewise with sleep, it’s best they have had a nap before the shoot if needed to help power them through.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE WE'VE BOOKED?

Once you have booked your session, we will have a chat, either on the phone or a zoom call. This will allow us to get to know each other a bit, discuss locations and what it is you like would like captured on your session. I'll then send you a pre-shoot guide full of hints and tips.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE SHOOT?

I will come to your home and have a quick look around to check out the light and space and assess which are the best spots to capture you or if you have booked an outdoor session then I will meet you at the agreed location.

I will get my camera out fairly soon after arriving and start snapping away, I do very little directing, my style is to capture you as naturally as possible and I find the more I pose people the more tense they become and the beautiful moments get lost. Very often people feel they need to look directly at the camera but do remember it’s about the connections between you all and if I wasn’t there you wouldn’t be looking in my direction, so top tip is to always look at your family members. In our pre shoot chat we will discuss the things you like to do as a family and some activities and moments you would like documented.

Every family is different and this shoot is about capturing your families story. Just do what you do normally together and the beautiful moments will come.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SHOOT?

You will be sent an online, password protected sneaky peek album within five days of your shoot and the full album within two weeks. From here you can decide which package you'd like to go for and I'm really happy to chat all options through with you.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD ON THE DAY OF MY SHOOT?

If you have booked an outdoor shoot and the weather is bad (heavy rain and winds) on the day then you can choose to either move to an in-home session or postpone to a new date. I will check the weather forecast in the lead up to your shoot and will be in touch if it’s not looking great.
